Full Moons are a time for releasing that which no longer serves. They are a time for letting go of old ways that prevent us from fully coming to our highest potential. This Full Moon occurs in Leo, a proud and visible sign, making this is an excellent time to release hubris, the need to be the center of attention, the need to be right, or any sense of entitlement. Leo's positive attributes include leading with confidence, displaying unconditional love and acceptance, and engaging with child-like fun. However, its shadow attributes can be over-bearing, arrogant, selfish, or childish, traits that can stand in the way of our higher Self.

Leo is a fixed Fire sign, so this is a great time to let go of where you are passionately stuck. A loving but prideful sign, Leo can assume he is correct, and you are welcome for his blessing; so what on earth do you mean, saying he is acting selfishly? This Full Moon is a perfect time to look in the mirror and truly see yourself and the behaviors you need to release. Instead of admiring yourself superficially (so Leo), look deeply within to find how you can beautify your character even more (again, so Leo). Where, or with whom, are you too proud to open to your big, beautiful heart? Are you coming from unconditional love or selfishness? Let go of those things that stand in the way of you being your very best, dignified Self.

The Sun has moved into Aquarius (the opposite sign of Leo), requiring a balance between Self and Society. Much of what we are currently learning on this planet is, how do we maintain our individuality while being a useful member of society at large? When does our selfishness harm the whole? Are we stubbornly clinging to our rights while trampling another's? Conversely, are we paying too much attention to other people’s business and not cleaning up our own act? Are we so focused on others that we are shutting down our heart and acting in ways that do not align with loving-kindness toward Self? What entitlements must be released?

Tough questions to ask, but necessary if we are to clear ourselves out and prepare our inner ground for the next New Moon. To make room for what we want to create, we need to know what and how much to throw out. What has to go so we can materialize anew?

Mercury is in Aquarius and will go retrograde on the 30th, just after this Full Moon. The retrograde period allows us to reflect on what we are focused on moving forward. Hopefully, by now, we have made room for others' perspectives so that we may better focus on our own. Mercury will go direct toward the end of February, at which time we can implement our new vision.

Venus in Capricorn and Mars in Taurus encourages us to relate responsibly and act with patience. A welcome relief from much of the last six months!

Uranus has moved direct and is conjunct Mars in Taurus. This dynamic duo aids us in taking steady, progressive action. The Leo Full Moon squares that Mars/Uranus energy, while the Aquarius Sun/Jupiter/Pluto energy also joins in to create a challenging T-square aspect. Conventional wisdom suggests looking to the empty space of the T-square to release the ensuing tension. Look to see where 6 degrees through 10 degrees of Scorpio is in your chart; that house shelters your unique release valve. If it falls in the 6th house, be of service; if it falls in the 9th house, maintain your faith; the 1st, be the change you wish to see in the world! You get the idea.

The midpoint of the empty space opposing that Mars/Uranus energy is 8 degrees Scorpio. The Sabian symbol for that corresponding point is “A Dentist Hard at Work,” suggesting these times may not be pleasant but may be necessary to maintain our health and help us transform. There are many obstinate challenges right now, given the FIXED energies at play. It is important to remember “this too shall pass” while reflecting upon, “What we can do individually (Leo) to create a better society (Aquarius) that is practical yet beautiful (Taurus)?”

Individuals make up the collective; there is no “us/them,” just US ALL. What fixed energies do we need to release to clear the way toward an open heart? That is the release for this month. Change is in the air. We cannot return to the way things were before 2020. Human evolution depends upon forwarding movement, not backward motion.

As FULL MOONS remind us to release old emotional patterns, and this Full Moon occurs in aspect to many fixed signs, look for stubborn feelings that keep our hearts shut down and let those feelings go, release that which no longer serves your loving Self.
